This one is going to be short but sweet, or rather, spicy, depending on how much chilli oil you add. Broadway Market legends Dumpling Shack have finally found a permanent home to sling their dumplings daily at The Kitchens in Old Spitalfields Market – an exciting collection of traders that also boasts Breddos, Berber & Q, and Yum Bun in their all-star line-up. The familiar faces of John & Yee are behind the Dumpling Shack counter, smiling away all day as they speed through orders and shout out numbers until they sell out.
What are you having? Everything of course. There are only three dishes for now, and you can’t miss any of them. Kick things off with their signature Shengjianbao – pan-fried soup dumplings filled with pork, leek and water chestnut. Then take on their bowl of freshly made Dan Dan Noodles, loaded with stir-fried beef, pickled mustard greens, Sichuan peppercorns, sesame paste and chilli oil. And to finish, in place of dessert, treat yourself to their flavoursome Prawn Wontons soaked in, you guessed it, chilli oil. Is there a better way to spend £20 in London at the moment?
