With a trip to Milan, the Dolomites, and Arrogant Sour Festival in Reggio Emilia fast approaching, it seemed the perfect time to check out The Italian Job pub in Notting Hill (or rather, Westbourne Park). Following in the footsteps of their modest flagship site in Chiswick, and their impressive beer bar at Mercato Metropolitano, the new site in W11 is a sizeable, stylish space for showcasing great Italian beer (plus a few international guests) across 14 taps. Co-owner Giovanni Campari also happens to be the brewmaster at Birrificio del Ducato, so you can always expect several of their beers to be on offer.
They’ve got a decent looking food menu, serving up regional specialities and street food inspired plates, and upstairs you’ll find their Salotte 900 cocktail bar for which they’ve enlisted the help of Luca Corradini of Oriole and The Savoy’s American Bar fame. I merely stopped in for a couple of beers, but I’ll be back to check out the rest of the offering another time. The Italian Job is a fine addition to an area severely lacking decent beer, and the friendly staff, interior design, and interesting tap list make it worth going out of your way for.
