I bloody love March. Mostly because it contains my birthday and those of several close friends (Pisces til I die!), but also because blue skies appear more frequently, the clocks go forward, and everyone gets a spring in their step. My 2017 March was packed with more celebratory meals and drinks than ever, including first visits to two tequila and taco hangouts. Killer Tomato in Shepherd’s Bush (opposite London’s best Brewdog bar) is a tiny eatery, bathed in neon red light, with superior cheeseburger tacos, tasty burritos, and copious amount of mezcal to keep everyone happy. Cartel on Battersea Park Road is a lively new bar with stylish interiors, and decent food, booze and music til late.
There were also decadent birthday lunches at St.John and Brunswick House, followed by beers and cocktails at home inspired by Mr.Lyan’s Good Things To Drink. I can’t recommend the peach and sage bourbon highly enough. In between all the revelry I caught up with friends around town, dropping by The Gibson to sample libations from their new menu, Sager + Wilde for a superb dinner, and my favourite new spot Coleman Coffee in Waterloo for caffeine and Staffordshire oatcakes in their garden suntrap. There was a weekend in Wales somewhere in there too, but I’ll save those photos for another time. Thanks March, it’s been great – see you next year.
